Choose the route

Donovaly route

This pleasant route starts in the beautiful village of Donovaly. In the beginning, we ride on a paved road to Vrchluka. We then go through Polianka where thepaved road changes to forest road. Short climbing uphill brings us to the highest point of the route. We continue through pleasant terrain of Stare Hory hills and come to Krcahy. The terrain then switches to grassy meadow and we rapidly descend downhill to arrive at the village of Motycky. We then ride on the main road on the way back to the mountain village of Donovaly for a beer or two in the famous microbrewery Pivovar Donovaly.

Balaze route

Starting in Low Tatras mountains in the village of Donovaly, we climb up to Vrchluka on a paved road, then to Polianka on the forest road. We ride through Stare Hory hills to Krcahy. Turning left  brings us to the town of Balaze from where we continue on forest road to the National Cultural Heritage Kaliste, village that was during the Second World War burned out by Nazis and was never rebuild again. We then continue through woods and meadows around Hruby Vrch to the spot Pri Javore (By the Maple Tree) and then back to the village of Donovaly.

Krizna route

This route takes longer and is more suitable for more experienced cyclists. We start in Stare Hory village, then to Turecka on forest road to Bystricka Valley. We choose the challenging steep and rocky road to Kralova Studna (Royal Well). The next climb to Krizna makes us breathless and we might get of the bike to enjoy the scenery on foot. The top of the Krizna Mountain, which is the highest mountain in Slovakia accessible on bike, is well deserved with breathtaking view of Slovakia. With the use of lot of breaks we go downhill, then traverse to Rybarske Sedlo, village of Rybo where one of the most tragic avalanche accidents happened. From there we head to our starting point Stare Hory.
